How to Use Glow Balm with Acne Patches in Your Routine

Learn the correct layering order for Glow Balm and pimple patches, plus how to adapt the routine for blemishes and redness without disrupting patch adhesion.

Quick answer

Apply Glow Balm first, let it absorb fully, then apply your pimple patch. Never put balm over a patch—it can lift the edges and reduce adhesion. If you use Rescue Balm +Red Correct for redness, apply it after removing the patch, not before.

Why the order matters for both products

Glow Balm is a moisturizing balm, and pimple patches are designed to stick to clean, dry skin. If you apply balm after a patch, the oils can seep under the edges and cause the patch to lift prematurely. If you apply balm before and don't let it absorb, the patch won't grip at all. The fix is simple: balm first, wait, then patch.

How to adapt the routine for blemishes and redness

For an active blemish, you may want to skip Glow Balm directly on that spot and use a patch instead. You can still apply Glow Balm to the rest of your face. If redness is your main concern after a patch, Rescue Balm +Red Correct can help blur it—but use it only after the patch is removed, not underneath.

Step-by-step routine

  1. Cleanse and dry: Wash your face with a gentle cleanser and pat dry. Any moisture left on the skin can prevent the patch from sticking. Checkpoint: skin should be completely dry before the next step.
  2. Apply Glow Balm: Smooth a thin layer of Glow Balm over your face, avoiding any active blemishes you plan to patch. Let it absorb for 2–3 minutes. Common mistake: applying too much balm, which leaves a residue that stops patches from adhering.
  3. Apply the pimple patch: Place a Mighty PatchTM for Early-Stage Blemishes or Mighty PatchTM Nose patch directly on the blemish. Press gently for 5 seconds. Checkpoint: the patch should lie flat with no lifted edges.
  4. Remove and follow with Rescue Balm +Red Correct: After 6–8 hours (or overnight), remove the patch. If redness remains, dab Rescue Balm +Red Correct over the area to soothe and color-correct. Next step: repeat only if needed, and never layer balm over a patch.

Product facts

  • Mighty Patch™ for Early-Stage Blemishes: Formulated for early-stage blemishes to address them at the first sign; suitable for combination, dry, normal, and oily skin types; not recommended for sensitive skin. If you have sensitive skin, this patch may not be the best choice for you.
  • Rescue Balm +Red Correct: Soothes dry, flaky skin while blurring redness with its color-correcting green tint. Use it after patch removal to calm and color-correct without interfering with adhesion.
